You might see the phrase “wheel hub” and think we’re just talking about the piece of metal or plastic that fits over the hub. While those are important to the look of your car, they are not nearly as important as the hub itself. You may be thinking of the wheel's hubcap, which covers the wheel hub on a car. Don’t worry, your technician knows the difference.

Thrust washers are often used in bearing assemblies and in rotating applications. The washers are designed to carry an axial or bearing load. Thrust washers are usually offered with a high hardness and a smooth surface. They are typically supplied in a hardened format, but can also be supplied case hardened when required. Thrust washers can be ground flat and parallel for special situations where tight tolerances and flat surfaces are required.

Flat washers are assembled in materials such as bronze, stainless steel, Nylon, PTFE, Acetal, and POM. We also offer other types of washers and components such as fender, clipped OD, slotted square, and D shaped ID. We carry a wide variety of washers and machined parts to meet the specifications of your project. The components in our catalog are manufactured in a 230,000 square foot facility.

Do not let corrosion impact the efficiency of your operations at your facility or property. Stainless steel and nylon can be utilized to increase the corrosion resistance of your thrust bearings. If you need help finding flat washers or other types of parts, give our team a call by phone at (847) 956-1344. We are dedicated to helping you find a flat washer in a material and thickness that meet your requirements.

One of the first signs that there might be something amiss with your wheel hub assembly is the sound it makes. These sounds will appear when the car is in motion, and are most apparent at higher speeds, much in the same way you can tell a radiator is broken by excess heat at high speeds.  A clicking noise when making sharp turns can indicate a bad wheel assembly, especially if it's a rhythmic clicking noise. Also, keep an ear out for knocking, grinding or clunking. While not always a sign of bad wheel hubs, as they could also indicate problems with struts or similar structural parts they can be a strong indicator that your auto wheel hubs will need a replacement soon.

Thrust washers and bearings can also be supplied for lighter and low impact situations in non-metallic Nylon, PTFE, Acetal, POM, and other materials. Thrust washers are most commonly made from steel. On the other hand, they can be supplied in phosphorous bronze, stainless steel, and other metallic materials. Nylon thrust washers are also available with MDS as an additive for wear resistance.

Have you looked at your vehicle’s wheel hubs lately? If not, you might want to give them a quick once-over. A truck or car's wheel hubs play multiple functions in ensuring that your car rolls smoothly and safely. So how do you tell whether your wheel hub assembly is in need of replacement? Here are some tips to help you decide.

Because the wheel hub assembly is a combination of interlocking parts (like ball bearings and a spindle), a failure in one of those parts will cause problems with the car or truck's feel when you drive it. If the wheel vibrates, wobbles, or shudders when going a consistent speed, it might be a bad wheel hub assembly on the vehicle. If you notice the steering doesn’t work as well as it did before, or if it pulls to one side even without braking, these are additional signs that the wheel hubs need to be examined, and most likely replaced, by a professional technician.

Our bearings are assembled to process shock loads in commercial applications. Thrust washers can be utilized to promote fast or slow speeds. Each part is manufactured with strong materials to prevent damage when you start or stop your machinery. If you need to use thrust washers in projects that are high in moisture, we will help you choose a material that will not warp.

Thrust bearings are engineered to facilitate linear motion or rotation near a fixed axis. In addition, this type of washer can be utilized to prevent movement. However, a majority of thrust washers are created to promote movement and reduce friction. The thrust bearings in our catalog are designed to withstand corrosion from a wide array of chemicals.
